Wondering what to expect from the Japanese SM5+ Ultra Force booster pack? Get straight answers on contents, pulls, value, and whether it fits your collection.
Quick answer
Buy the Sun & Moon Ultra Force booster pack if you want a low-cost, Japanese-exclusive pack with five cards and a chance at SM5+ chase cards. Skip it if you only collect English cards or need guaranteed hits.
Why the Japanese SM5+ pack feels different from English packs
Japanese Sun & Moon booster packs typically contain five cards, while English packs usually hold ten. That changes the rhythm of opening: fewer cards per pack, but each pack costs less. The Ultra Force SM5+ expansion was not released in English, so these cards are the only way to get that specific set.
If you collect a specific Pokémon or trainer from Sun & Moon, check the SM5+ card list before buying. The Japanese set may include cards that never appeared in the English Ultra Prism set, which matters for master-set collectors.
Pull expectations: what you can and cannot count on
Every pack is sealed and random. You are not guaranteed a holographic, a GX, or any specific rarity in a single pack. The only certainty is the card count: five cards per pack. Treat any 'pull rate' you see online as anecdotal unless it comes from a large, documented opening.
Because the pack is Japanese, the card back and text differ from English cards. That does not affect legality in Japanese-format play, but it does mean these cards are not tournament-legal in English-language events.
Ultra Force booster pack FAQ
- What is the Sun & Moon Ultra Force booster pack?
- It is a Japanese Pokémon TCG booster pack from the SM5+ expansion, containing 5 cards. The set is part of the Sun & Moon era and was not released in English.
- How many cards come in one pack?
- Five cards per pack, as stated on the product listing. That is half the count of a typical English booster pack, so compare price per card rather than price per pack. Check the price per card against other Japanese Sun & Moon packs before buying multiple packs.
- What can I pull from Ultra Force booster packs?
- Pulls are random. You may find common, uncommon, rare, or higher-rarity cards from the SM5+ set, but no specific card is guaranteed in a single pack. The only guaranteed contents are five cards.
- Are these cards legal in English tournaments?
- No. Japanese-language cards are not legal in English-language Pokémon TCG tournaments. They are fine for collecting and for Japanese-format play.
- Is this pack a good value?
- At $7.20 (compared with a $10.00 list price), it is a low-cost way to open a Japanese-exclusive set. Value depends on what you pull, so buy for the experience or the set, not as an investment.
- Who should skip this pack?
- Skip it if you only collect English cards, need guaranteed hits, or want to play in English-format events. This pack is best for collectors of Japanese Sun & Moon cards and casual openers.
